Current Research

GHI's current research programs primarily include the study of hypersonic propulsion-airframe integration and scramjet engine development. Much of our work revolves around the development of engine and vehicle designs from a flowline perspective. Often this involves a mix of fast-turn-around design methods closely coupled to high-fidelity Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. As our research goals and computation tools advance, our team is moving towards vehicle and engine design methods involving coupled high-fidelity CFD, thermal-structural analysis and multi-disciplinary optimization. GHI is also involved in several ground test experiments involving hypersonic engine and vehicle components and is actively pursuing the development of a flight-testing capability.
